My name is Ali and I like Homestuck. I’ve just finished my John Egbert cosplay and I’m incredibly proud of myself. I’ve made a lot of great friends recently, and I wanted to share a very important thing about myself.
I’ve got a seizure disorder that’s classified as ‘epilepsy’. If you click the link you’ll find out that it means I have a lot of electrical misfires in my head that make my body and mind go wonky. My triggers are stress and light, and it depends on the day as to what sets it off.
Now. I’m going to share my medication with you.
This is Lamotrigine. The blue is 200mg, the peach is half a 100mg pill, and the white is a 25. I take two of the 200, a whole 100, and one of the 25’s, daily.
This is Zonisamide. It’s a 50mg capsule, and I take 3 at night. Both these types of pills are anticonvulsants.
This is Verapamil. It’s a blood pressure medication that my doc prescribed to keep away the migraines brought on by my seizures.
this is my night dose. Watch as I take it.
it’s gross. bleeeeeh
This is my morning dose. Easier but still nasty as shit.
These are my goggles. I use them to read homestuck. They darken the world and make the gifs easier to see.
This is how I know to put my goggles on.
Now, to the meat of the matter. I’m asking you all, my followers and friends, to please tag anything that flashes, flickers and strobes. I’m not always wearing my goggles, so I don’t always have protection from dangerous images. Every time I have a seizure, I suffer, both brain damage, and the potential to have a bigger one.
And I’m not the only Homestuck fan that suffers this way. It’d be great if you made it a practice to tag LE gifs as ‘epilepsy warning’ or ‘flashes a lot’. These things are sweet words that protect me, and others, that prevent us from being ill.
Thank you in advance.
btw: portal fandom. This is directed at you too. Fuck. today has been a bad day on my dash. GDI
