Also I’m something of a recovering Nice Guy (TM) myself, and while I recognize now that NG behavior is all kinds of inappropriate, the sheer venom of the response to NGs online continues to surprise me somewhat. I think the majority don’t realize what they’re doing, they’ve convinced themselves of their lie, and while that certainly doesn’t make their actions dismissible, it does mean education is at least as good a response as excoriation. It’s not always a /lethal/ error (unless you’re Eridan)

My venom against nice guys as a phenomenon is the result of being creeped on more or less nonstop since I got boobs. It gets old reaaaally fast, and I ran out of care for educating every single Nice Guy in the face of their emotional underdevelopment right around the time said boobs stopped growing. You have to starve many of these people to get them to go away. The behavior itself, though? Calling that out whenever I can. Can’t stand to see it romanticized. (twiliiiiight >:U)
